Client Role
In your role as the Client, you will commission a Design team, located in different country, to provide your client team with design proposals for an item (physical, or combination of physical and digital, or physical and digital service) which either promotes and/or celebrates a specific local practice(s) with focus on the broad theme of Celebrating the Daily Joys of Life. You can also think about the Client role as a manufacturer commissioning a design consultancy in a different country. You will need to select specific family members, such as your grandparents, parents or aunts or uncles, who will form the intended “users” for the proposed designs. To develop the Client Design Brief, you will need to prepare information, such as storyboards or short movies, which will help your paired Design team to become familiar with your selected users' day to day local practices. In the Client role, you, as the cultural experts on your selected users’ practices will need to analyse these practices to guide and evaluate the Design team’s progress. After you will receive the final design proposals from your Design team, you, as the Clients, will be responsible for constructing a physical model/prototype/mock-up. You will use the model as a prop in a short video to demonstrate how it supports your users’ daily activities. Based on your client's brief and weekly feedback the received design proposal developed by your designers and guided by. Therefore, throughout the process as clients you will need to provide careful feedback and guidance to your designers. You will also be required to produce: a maximum 60-second promotional video for the item and 2 boards (A2 size) providing feedback for your design collaborators.
